Karli and Grant Dvorak Wedding Story
Wedding Date
Saturday, September 29, 2018
The girls and I started the day bright and early with hair and makeup beginning at 6:00! We braved the 40 degree cloudy morning for some outdoor pictures which turned out amazing thanks to Eugene with Priceless Studio! Our dream was to have outdoor pictures on our family farm, which is exactly what we were able to do. Our ceremony was beautiful, a family member was our Officiant and this kept us at ease. Grant and I were both so nervous, we clenched each others hands almost the entire ceremony. One thing I really enjoyed is that our videographer/photographer had clipped a wireless microphone on Grant’s vest so that our vows were recorded with clarity! We both let a huge sigh of relief once the ceremony was finished and we boarded the party bus! Our friends and family made the day so enjoyable. As everyone told us it would, the day went so fast! Our reception was a blast, DY Photobooth and our MC Ken Petersen kept the guests entertained for hours! We had a surprise speech from Grant’s 11 year old sister, she had created a rap for us and it was so hilarious! Our videographer has the whole thing on video, we can’t wait to watch it! The food was great, we had a traditional southwest ND meal of Deep fried turkey and brisket- yum! And our cake, wow, almond cake with raspberry buttercream from The Cake Life... so so good! It was an amazing day, I would not change a thing. I am officially Mrs. Dvorak!
How We Met
Grant and I met at a baseball game way back in 2011. He was a player and I was a spectator who knew nothing about basebal. I had tagged along with my best friend, whose brother was also playing. Later that night, Grant added me on Facebook and by sneaky planning on my part, my friend set us up on a date through her brother! We had been together for 7 years before we married. Time flew so fast, we both graduated high school, then college, moved in together, traveled many places, and bought a dog. I absolutely love my life, and that I finally get to be called Grant’s Wife!
Planning for Our Day
Ok where do I start? We had a long engagement due to my college graduation, nursing boards, and job seeking. We had almost 18 months to plan! It was fairly easy, just time consuming. Our greatest desire for wedding day was to relax and enjoy, so we hired our good friend Jaime with 701 Design + Events. She handled the flowers and decor! Our reception space was BEAUTIFUL. Perhaps the hardest part of our planning process was with the reception venue due to many staff changes. Luckily, my father helped us through the contract signing process and everything went well in the end! I also used Pinterest ALOT. Thanks to pinterest, I was able to decide on wedding color scheme of Maroon, blush, dove grey, and rose gold.
Hint for Brides
Take your time, ask for help from anyone willing to offer. I could not have planned our wedding without the help of our parents and of course, friends who had recently been married. I also read the ND prairie bride magazine almost weekly, following the checklist and making sure we had all of the expenses recorded. The payment record sheet in the magazine was my #1 registrar. Something that also helped us was making the guest list on word excel, you can make address labels here and keep track of guest count in a very easy, organized manner. Excel was a life saver!
